After meeting with videographer/graphic artist Justin Hammond at Auburn Mall we took off for Quincy, Mass. around 11am. Marina Bay is the best place to shoot glamour in New England for sure! They have a florida/cali style set up with palm trees and sand, located right on the ocean next to a boat port and a beautiful boardwalk. Not to mention across the harbor was the skyline of Boston.

I brought my strobe along with several extension cords since I wasnt sure of plug outlet situations. When we arrived we met up with the beautiful Dynasty Model- Ashley Langston. Justin took some "behind the scenes" video footage while I took some portfolio shots for Ashley. We started out using strobe around the club area, using mirrors, cabanas and ocean as backdrops. There was a private event going on so we had to leave the club earlier then we thought, not to worry since we were surrounded by beach and great places to shoot. We found a small field, a palm tree, and a boat dock we shot on. As it started getting later in the day, the tide went out and we got some great shots under the docks. Shooting in shade while overexposing the background is my favorite way to shoot. I basically used the shade as my main light thus blasting out the background to get correct exposure on Ashley. I was also using my 50mm fixed lens. Shooting at a 2.8 with a fast shutter speed and holding my breath. : ) As the sun went down, I closed down my aperture giving me a good depth of field, used my external flash for fill, and got some great shots of Ashley on the beach with the city of Boston in the background. I try to make my photos all about the model, edgy and curvy, with random things in the background, hidden enough to not take away from the model but there for you to look further into the picture and see.
The drive home was hell, we hit traffic on the Mass Pike but it was definitely worth it since we got some great video footage, photos, and an unforgettable experience. Heres the video Justin Hammond put together, enjoy...
