Fast cars, old cars, new cars, performance cars, burnt tires, and hotdogs! What could be better? How about 15 girls, 4 photographers, and a bikini contest?
The annual Summer Nationals held in Worcester was the best summer kickoff you could ask for! An estimated 2 million automotive fans showed up for the weekend festivities. There was the afternoon parade, photoshoot, and night time contest on Saturday held at the Royal Plaza in downtown. Check in for models was at 10am which was when I arrived there. I met up with photographersa Rick Trottier, Michael Steinberg, and owner of dvd portfolios Tony?. The parade went from main street to Green Hill park where hundreds of cars were lined up and thousands of people walking around scoping out the scene. When we arrived at the park, the girls all lined up for everyone to see them and take pictures, and we walked down towards the water. For the next couple hours we split the girls in teams and had them shoot with each photographer. We lined them up in front of cars, on motorcycles, in pick up trucks, and along the lake. Fans were even getting involved in the shots. The 2 hours went by so fast, but we were all able to get some great shots of the girls. We headed back to the hotel for some dinner and down time before the nigh show started. We did a quick run through of the contest and the doors opened at 7 with a rush of a crowd that filled up the entire room.
When the contest was over, we took the winners and brought them into the pool area of the hotel and did our own little photoshoot. We used some strobes for lighting and each photographer got to take turns with the models. I think out of the entire day, those were some of our best shots.
